Arkansas
The Society of St. Andrew has delivered a total of 694,000
million pounds of salvaged potatoes and other food to the needy in the
state of Arkansas through the Potato Project. This has resulted in
approximately 2.1 million servings of food going to Arkansas' hungry.
Gleaning in Arkansas:
We operate a gleaning office in Mammoth Spring,
AR. While gleaning operations are generally conducted in the area shown
on the map below, the Arkansas gleaning office is responsible for
salvaging food for the hungry across the state.
Gleaning in Arkansas takes place year-round as long as the
weather cooperates. Most gleaning events take place on weekends where
gleaners arrive in the fields around 8:00 a.m. and are on their way home
by noon. The Society of St. Andrew's gleaning coordinator makes all
arrangements with farmers and for produce containers and food
distribution.
