Our Awards
During the quarter-century the Society of St. Andrew has been working to feed
the hungry we have received many recognitions and expressions of appreciation
for our efforts. As in all things, the glory goes to God. Our most
significant awards are highlighted here simply to illustrate the widespread
effect and benefit to the hungry of our work.
Society of John Wesley Fellows
2003 -- Awarded to Society of St. Andrew Executive Director Ken Horne
Leadership for a Changing World Nominee
2003 -- Executive Director Ken Horne nominated by the Congressional Hunger
Center for his effective and continuing leadership in tackling the problems of
domestic hunger.
National Caring Award
1998 -- Presented by the Caring Institute to Executive Director Ken Horne for
his long-standing commitment to ending hunger in America through the work of the
Society of St. Andrew. Past recipients include Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Jimmy
Carter, Dr. Jane Goodall, and Mother Theresa.
Humanitarian Award
1998 -- Presented by the National Conference for Community and Justice,
Lynchburg, Virginia Chapter to Executive Director Ken Horne for his humanitarian
work in feeding the hungry.
Hero of Food Recovery and Gleaning Award
1997 -- Presented by the United States Department of Agriculture at the First
National Summit on Food Recovery and Gleaning.
