Light of The World
Read: 1 John 1:5
Have you ever truly experienced darkness? Can you even imagine a
darkness that is the total absence of the Light? When I was Senior in
High School a group of us were able to take an over-night trip to
Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. It was a chilly Saturday morning when our
group began our “cave” experience. The caves were absolutely
breath-taking. We all stood in awe of the majesty of God’s handiwork.
Midway through the journey, our guides told us to stand perfectly still;
don’t move an inch! Before we knew what was happening, all the
artificial lights were turned off. The darkness felt like a living
organism closing in around us. Many of us became dizzy and could feel
the hair on our arms standing up. Have you ever heard the phrase, “the
air was so thick you could cut it with a knife’? That’s exactly what it
felt like. This was the most frightening experience of my life. Today
many years later, I can still “feel” that darkness. What a wonderful
Father we have that he sent his son, Jesus, to be our Light, so that we
may forever bathe in the Light of his countenance. How sad for those who
have chosen that frightening darkness for all eternity. God wants all of
us to know the Light, not the Darkness.
Prayer:
Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to be the Light of the World;
so that we will never have to experience that darkness. Amen

The season of Lent is a journey in which we have
been given the opportunity to grow closer to God through Jesus Christ.
Each day, during these 40 days of Lent and though this e-devotion, you
are asked the question, “Jesus is...” As Lent is an opportunity for
sacrificial living and sacrificial giving, you are invited to click on
the donate now button on the bottom of this screen. By giving
sacrificially, your financial resources will enable us to continue to
