Hungry
Read: Luke 24:36, 41-43
The disciples were understandably afraid, amazed, and joyful. They were
afraid because they had lost their leader, the man they had followed for
years. They often didn’t understand Jesus, but they somehow knew that he
held the secret to life. They were afraid because he had been cruelly
and painfully executed, and they knew that their lives were in danger.
They were amazed because they had heard the rumors that he was risen
from the dead. How could that be? They were joyful when they at last saw
him. In the midst of their fear, amazement and joy, Jesus is very down
to earth: Do you have anything to eat? This little story after the
Resurrection reminds us that God took the incredible risk of becoming
human, with all of the frailties and problems of humanity—like hunger.
This story reminds us as we prepare for the Great Feast of Easter, there
are those who are hungry, and when we feed the hungry, we are feeding
Christ himself. What better way could there be to prepare for the feast
of Easter than to share with those who don’t have the food that we have.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, you died for the well-fed and the hungry. Inspire those
of us who have more than enough to share with those who know hunger.
Amen

The season of Lent is a journey in which we have
been given the opportunity to grow closer to God through Jesus Christ.
Each day, during these 40 days of Lent and though this e-devotion, you
are asked the question, “Jesus is...” As Lent is an opportunity for
sacrificial living and sacrificial giving, you are invited to click on
the donate now button on the bottom of this screen. By giving
sacrificially, your financial resources will enable us to continue to
provide healthy, nutritious food to our hungry brothers and sisters. May
this season of Lent challenge you to grow in your faith so that Easter
and the resurrection of Jesus might be the glorious celebration of a
risen Christ that lives within each of us. We wish for you a joyous and
