Groups may fill vacancies within
a team by substituting
alternates, but notify us of all
changes as they occur. Each team
must have at least 1 adult per 5
youth, and teams consisting of
both male and female youth
participants must have at least
one male and one female adult.
Pre-event
materials
will be sent to your contact
person 1-2 months prior to the
event or, if nearing the event,
upon receipt of your $25 per
person deposit. Teams that spend
time preparing for the camp
benefit most from the
experience.
Work
at the camps takes place in
fields where we get hot, tired,
and dirty. Participants should
be in reasonably good shape, be
willing to get hot and sweaty,
and be ready to work for 4-5
hours each day. Weekend events
in the fall often have cooler
weather, so gleaning begins
later and continues into the
afternoon (4-6 hours). Yes, we
will still glean if it is
raining!
Accommodations
vary from rustic camps with
cabins to air-conditioned dorm
facilities. No facilities
require participants to sleep
outdoors or in tents.
Transportation--Participants
travel to the fields by the
vehicles in which they were
brought. No youth under 21 may
drive during the retreat. Factor
extra gas money for all vehicles
into your mission budget for
this event.
