Illinois
The Society of St. Andrew has
delivered more than 6.3 million pounds of salvaged potatoes and other food
to the needy in the state of Illinois through the Potato
Project. This has resulted in approximately 19 million servings of food
going to Illinois' hungry.

Gleaning in Illinois:
We have a gleaning office in
Bourbonnais which covers the area shown
on the map to the left.
Gleaning in Illinois takes
place year-round as long as the weather cooperates. Most
gleaning events take place on weekends where gleaners arrive in the
fields around 8:00 a.m. and are on their way home by noon. The Society
of St. Andrew's gleaning coordinator makes all arrangements with farmers
and for produce containers and food distribution.
Potato Drops in Illinois:
Deliveries of tractor trailer
loads of potatoes and other produce are coordinated by the Illinois
Gleaning Coordinator throughout the year. Generally, these "potato
drops" involve some 45,000 pounds of potatoes being delivered to a
church or other locations. Contact the Hunger Relief
Advocate for information on upcoming drops.
