Indiana
The Society of St. Andrew has delivered over 2.5 million
pounds of salvaged potatoes and other food to the needy in the state of
Indiana through the Potato Project. This has resulted in approximately 7.5
million servings of food going to Indiana's hungry.
Gleaning in Indiana:
We operate a gleaning office in Warsaw,
Indiana. While gleaning operations are generally conducted in the area
shown on the map to the left, the Indiana gleaning office is responsible
for salvaging food for the hungry across the state.
Gleaning in Indiana takes place year-round
as long as the weather cooperates. Most gleaning events take place on
weekends where gleaners arrive in the fields around 8:00 a.m. and are on
their way home by noon. The Society of St. Andrew's gleaning coordinator
makes all arrangements with farmers and for produce containers and food
distribution.
