Iowa
The Society of St. Andrew has delivered nearly 8.2 million pounds of
salvaged potatoes and other food to the needy in the state of Iowa
through the Potato Project. This has resulted in about 25 million
servings of food going to Iowa 's hungry.
Gleaning in Iowa:
Our Iowa gleaning office is
located in Iowa City. The approximate area for gleaning in Iowa is
shown on the map below.
Gleaning in Iowa takes
place as long as the weather cooperates. Most
gleaning events take place on weekends where gleaners arrive in the
fields around 8:00 a.m. and are on their way home by noon. The Society
of St. Andrew's gleaning coordinator makes all arrangements with farmers
and for produce containers and food distribution.
