Oklahoma
The Society of St. Andrew has delivered a total of 2.2
million pounds of salvaged potatoes and other food to the needy in
Oklahoma through our Potato Project. This has resulted in about 6.6
million servings of food going to Oklahoma's hungry.
Gleaning in Oklahoma:
We operate a gleaning office in Del City,
Oklahoma. While gleaning operations are generally conducted in the area
shown on the map below, the Oklahoma gleaning office is responsible
for salvaging food for the hungry across the state.
Gleaning in Oklahoma takes place year-round
as long as the weather cooperates. Most gleaning events take place on
weekends where gleaners arrive in the fields around 8:00 a.m. and are on
their way home by noon. The Society of St. Andrew's gleaning coordinator
makes all arrangements with farmers and for produce containers and food
distribution.
