I had an
opportunity to attend a prayer
service at the Georgia Farm
Bureau led by GA Farm Bureau
President Zippy Duvall and
Commissioner of Agriculture Gary
Black. The service was an
encouraging reminder to farmers
to be grounded in their faith
and to pray believing that God
can heal the land with much
needed rain. As I drove to and
from the service I was reminded
at just how parched our farm
lands are, but was encouraged at
the same time as growers called
willing to donate fresh produce
for our hunger relief efforts. Yes, it’s very hot, humid and
dry in Georgia and gnats
abound! I plead with you to
join with our state agricultural
leaders and our local farmers
and pray unceasingly trusting
that God will bring the rains
that are needed for a bountiful
harvest in Georgia. Thankfully,
farmers are donating what crops
they can despite these drought
conditions. We need you to
help in our gleaning efforts
during this busy harvesting
season. There’s a place
for every volunteer in South
Georgia this summer, so please
join us!
Holding
true to our goal of fresh
vegetables into the hands of the
hungry within 24 hours, the
children’s R.E.A.C.H. program at
Tifton First United Methodist
Church recently bagged green and
yellow squash picked fresh from
the local fields one early
afternoon. The next morning the
bags were distributed at a local
Community Health Day at the
Tifton Head Start Center.
