Our Shield
The Society of St. Andrew identifies with Andrew, the disciple
who was always introducing others to Jesus. That is why the Society of St.
Andrew shield is emblazoned with the Cross of St. Andrew.
In addition to the Cross of St. Andrew, our shield carries four symbols
representing the four aspects of the Society's ministries:
-
The trefoil at the top symbolizes the Triune nature of God and
represents the Society’s roots in prayer and spirituality.
-
The three fish represent Christian community and fellowship,
which are promoted by working together in the name of Jesus.
-
The sheaf of wheat represents commitment to the earth and its
hungry people.
-
The tree stump with new growth symbolizes church renewal
Emblazoned at the bottom of the shield are the words from I John
3:18 that remind us of the Gospel's mandate which guides our ministry: "In deed
and in truth".
