Washington
The Society of St. Andrew has delivered nearly 398,000
pounds of salvaged potatoes and other food to the needy in Washington
through our Potato Project. This has resulted in nearly 1.2 million
servings of food going to Washington's hungry.
Gleaning in Washington:
We operate a gleaning office in Yakima,
Washington. While gleaning operations are generally conducted in the area
shown on the map below, the Washington gleaning office is responsible
for salvaging food for the hungry across the state.

Gleaning in Washington takes place year-round
as long as the weather cooperates. Most gleaning events take place on
weekends where gleaners arrive in the fields around 8:00 a.m. and are on
their way home by noon. The Society of St. Andrew's gleaning coordinator
makes all arrangements with farmers and for produce containers and food
distribution.
